Test Screening and Amendments

The film is screened and several amendments are put forward by the lecturer:

  • The background is too bright and clearer than the subjects.
  • The dinosaurs need to be in their "natural habitat". Use natural lighting.
  • The entire film had to be re-shot and shortened into 3-4 minutes.
  • Utilize miniature gardens if possible.

Jurassic World Survival completed!

Jurassic World: Survival is finally finished on time! Expecting a YouTube upload by the end of August! Link will be updated once it is uploaded.

The actors and several other dinosaurs that did not make it to the film celebrate the completion of the film.

RUANG Trip! ~ 27.7.2018

On July 27, 2018, we took a field trip to RUANG by ThinkCity where they held the Kancil Awards exhibition, where several creative works are being showcased, including the amazing works by The One Academy students and my internship studio, Graph Studio.

The RUANG exhibition hall is located at Jalan Hang Kasturi, which is a stone's throw from the Central Market.

Currently, the RUANG hall is hosting an exhibition based on the Kancil Awards, the national creative competition.

The Kancil Awards' branding campaign showcases fluid designs involving its logo, which was shown in various styles displayed in the exhibition. In this image, the logo appears on a road sign, flanked by another sign reading the award name and a Perodua Kancil.

Exhibition campaigns from senior batches at The One Academy are also showcased.

BEAM is a classical art-inspired installation which uses a camera to capture emotions and make them more enjoyable with customizations.

Our best installation project, Lost in the Moment, utilizes LEDs as a form of visualization when music is played. It works when plugged with musical instruments. The project ultimately won the Merit Award at the Kancil Awards.

A cool-looking interactive storytelling project named Le Petit Prince (The Petite Prince). It uses augmented reality to convey its story.

The exhibition also showcases installation projects made by our class during the client-based teamwork practices. Two are being showcased: Vinda Bender and Tissue-Pocalypse, based on the Vinda tissue brand. Vinda Bender uses Kinect-based technology in a game and won a Kancil Student Award for Best Promo and Activation.

Tissue-Pocalypse is a first-person shooter arcade game created for the campaign.

Innovation of local crafts can also be viewed in the exhibition. The picture shows the shadow puppet art (Wayang Kulit) being stylized into the likes of Star Wars and comic superheroes.

Campaigning art and design portfolios are also showcased, seen here is a project made by a senior utilizing an art style inspired by Pablo Picasso's works.

As a creative award, the Kancil Awards also showcase some of the best short films. The film screenshot shown above comes from a comedic tragedy that shows the importance of 1 ringgit notes.

Some of these films, including the 1 ringgit film, are made by the iconic film studio, Graph Studio. In 2016, I worked there for my three-month internship as part of the study semester. I was also able to spot and recognize my co-workers in the making-of videos!

I have found the trip inspiring and exciting as I have found and viewed several projects that can become inspirations or references to future projects. Although no fan films were showcased as most creative awards vie for originality, the short films can be influential to my future projects.

Filming week!

Filming of the scenes took 2 days.

Blue the Velociraptor waiting behind plant props. The plant props were obtained at the college's stationery shop.

The chase scene involving Blue, the Triceratops and the Metriacanthosaurus is filmed this week.

Another small dinosaur will become Blue's snack in the film.

A helicopter will appear in the film's ending. In the second movie (Fallen Kingdom), humans have entered the island for a mission: to retrieve the dinosaurs from the island.

A Pteranodon is added to the film for an air scene. The Pteranodon originated from Mattel's Jurassic World Legacy Collection line.
